Postdoc positions at LPTHE

Postdoctoral position in Astroparticle Physics and Dark Matter Phenomenology

Deadline on Dec 16, 2024

Job description: The Laboratory of Theoretical and High Energy Physics (LPTHE) at Jussieu (Paris, France) invites applications for a postdoctoral position at Sorbonne University.

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Silvia Manconi (recently appointed Junior Professor, starting December 2024) and the Particle Physics and Cosmology group on astroparticle theory and phenomenology, with a focus on dark matter phenomenology and current and future dark matter searches with astroparticle messengers. In addition to having a strong track record and established experience in these areas, candidates are expected to be able to efficiently work both independently and cooperatively, and show excellent communication skills.

The LPTHE group of Particle Physics and Cosmology includes researchers with broad interests: Karim Benakli, Giacomo Cacciapaglia, Matteo Cacciari, Marco Cirelli, Benjamin Fuks, Mark Goodsell, Silvia Manconi, Hua-Sheng Shao and Pietro Slavich, as well as postdocs and PhD students. The LPTHE is part of Sorbonne University and keeps close contacts with the researchers of other laboratories in Paris and in the wider Paris area, who are active in particle theory and phenomenology, experimental particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology. These include e.g. the Paris Institute of Astrophysics (IAP), the Laboratory of Nuclear and High Energy Physics (LPNHE), the Institute of Theoretical Physics of Saclay (IPhT), Irène Joliot-Curie Lab of Orsay (IJCLab) and the Astroparticle and Cosmology Laboratory (APC). The Jussieu campus is located in the heart of Paris in the Latin Quarter.

The appointment is intended to start in Fall 2025 and will normally be for 2 years. A 1-year extension is possible, subject to funds availability and performance. Applicants are required to have obtained a Ph.D. in theoretical particle/astroparticle physics, cosmology, or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Candidates from underrepresented groups in STEM are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applications should be submitted through the Academic Jobs Online portal and should include (all in PDF format):

a curriculum vitae, including a list of publications; a research statement, summarizing previous and current research and future plans; at least 3 reference letters.

To receive full consideration, the application documents and all the reference letters should be submitted by Monday 16th December 2024.
