Prix Cosmos du livre de vulgarisation 2026
The third edition of the Cosmos Prize for Popular Science Books reached its apex on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at a ceremony held in the Grand Hall of the Institut de France. Students from participating schools and representatives from partner institutions were in attendance.
Two winners were honored:
The Cosmos Committee Prize, awarded by a readership of researchers and science journalists, was presented to Alain ASPECT for his book "If Einstein Had Known," published by Odile Jacob.
The Cosmos High School Students' Prize, based on votes from students in about fifteen participating high schools in France and neighboring French-speaking countries, was presented to Ersilia VAUDO for her book "At the Frontiers of the Cosmos: A History of Astrophysics in Five Revolutions," published by Quanto.
The ceremony began with a presentation of the European Cosmos Prize initiative, followed by speeches by the laureates. Lively and engaging discussions with the students continued over a convivial buffet. Each laureate received an iron meteorite from Campo del Cielo, a symbol of these prestigious awards.
The LPTHE supports the initiative and is deeply involved in it (Marco Cirelli is a member of both the organizing and scientific committees). To learn more about the Cosmos Prize, please visit prixcosmos.github.io.
