Contrats postdoctoraux au LPTHE

  • Postdoctoral positions in theoretical particle physics and cosmology - ERC "CosmoChart" - deadline for applications 30/11/2021

The Laboratory of Theoretical and High-Energy Physics (LPTHE) at Sorbonne University, in Paris, France, invites applications for up to two postdoctoral positions starting in Fall 2022, in the research group of Prof. Kalliopi Petraki, funded by the 2021-2026 ERC Consolidator Grant ’CosmoChart’.

We are looking for candidates with strong background in quantum field theory, and research interests in physics beyond the Standard Model, astroparticle physics and cosmology. The candidates must hold a Ph.D. before the appointment starts.

The successful candidate will join the LPTHE particle physics group and will also interact with the wider Paris community.

Appointments will be for two years, with possible extension for another year, contingent on satisfactory performance. We offer competitive salaries and generous travel allowance.

Applications should include a CV, list of publications, research statement, a short motivation letter, and three letters of recommendation, submitted via Academic Jobs Online. For full consideration, applications should be submitted by 30 Nov 2021. Later applications may be considered if the positions have not yet been filled.

  • Postdoctoral position in theoretical particle physics - ANR "DMwithLLPatLHC" - deadline for applications 03/12/2021

The particle phenomenology group of the Laboratory of Theoretical and High-Energy Physics (LPTHE) at Sorbonne Université in the centre of Paris (France) plans to make an appointment at the postdoctoral level. The position is expected to start in autumn 2022 and last two years. The contract will be funded by the ANR grant DMwithLLPatLHC.

We are looking for candidates with research interests including physics beyond the Standard Model, collider physics and dark matter. The successful candidate must hold a PhD degree before the appointment starts.

Applications should include a CV, list of publications, research statement, a short motivation letter, and three letters of recommendation, submitted via Academic Jobs Online. For full consideration, applications should be submitted by December 3rd, 2021.

  • Postdoctoral position in theoretical high-energy physics - ANR "PrecisOnium" - deadline for applications 10/12/2021

The theory department of the Laboratoire de Physique des 2 Infinis Irène Joliot-Curie (IJCLab) in Orsay (Paris-Saclay U.) and the particle physics and cosmology group of the Laboratoire de Physique Théorique et Hautes Energies (LPTHE) in Paris (Sorbonne U.) jointly offer a 2-year postdoctoral position starting in Fall 2022 to work on the project PrecisOnium funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR).

The successful candidate is expected to work on next-to-next-to-leading order QCD computations for heavy-quarkonium production. Candidates with experience on NNLO perturbative QCD corrections are particularly encouraged to apply.

The candidate will be co-hosted by IJCLab in Orsay (Jean-Philippe Lansberg) and by LPTHE in Paris (Hua-Sheng Shao). In addition to the members of our PrecisOnium team (3 PhD students, 1 postdoc), (s)he will be expected to work with the MadGraph5_aMC@NLO and the NLOAccess teams, and our external collaborators, e.g. Claude Duhr (Bonn), Samuel Abreu (CERN), Matteo Becchetti (Turin), and Melih Ozcelik (Karlsruhe). Discussions and collaborations with our experimentalist colleagues, who are continuously analysing quarkonium data at e.g. the LHC, in the Paris area are expected.

The salary is fixed by the French law, depending on the research experience. The position will benefit from comfortable travel funding provided by the ANR (PrecisOnium), by the CNRS and by several bilateral agreements.

Candidates holding a PhD in Physics (or expected to hold one before the recruitment) and with expertise in perturbative QCD are encouraged to send their application including

- a Curriculum Vitae ;
- a list of publications ;
- a research statement ;

as a single PDF file by e-mail to jean-philippe.lansberg_AT_in2p3.fr & huasheng.shao_AT_lpthe.jussieu.fr with the subject : "PrecisOnium : Applicant’s first+last name"

At least two letters of recommendation are required to be sent by e-mail to jean-philippe.lansberg_AT_in2p3.fr & huasheng.shao_AT_lpthe.jussieu.fr with the subject : "PrecisOnium : letter for Applicant’s first+last name" for the application to be considered.

For full consideration, applications should be received by December 10, 2021 ; late applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

We will pay attention to equal opportunities.
